About this site
Pet First Aid UK is a free reference for UK dog and cat owners. When something is wrong with your pet, you need calm, fast, UK-specific guidance — not an American site quoting the wrong emergency numbers.
Every page leads with the most useful first action, gives clear warning signs, lists what NOT to do, and tells you when to phone the vet. Pages are colour-coded by urgency: emergency, urgent (same day), and monitor.
Who writes this
This site is compiled by an FA Level 2 coach who keeps pets, drawing on published guidance from Blue Cross, PDSA, the Royal Veterinary College, Battersea, and Animal PoisonLine. It is not written by a veterinary professional, and every page cites its sources.
This is not a substitute for veterinary advice
First aid is what you do in the minutes before professional help. It does not replace it. When your pet is unwell, phone your vet — they will triage by phone for free. If in any doubt, treat it as an emergency.
How it's funded
A small number of pages carry Amazon affiliate links to relevant products — clearly labelled, and never inside emergency or treatment instructions. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. This keeps the site free.
