Safe flea treatment for cats
NEVER apply a dog flea product to a cat. Permethrin — found in many dog spot-ons and sprays — is extremely toxic to cats. If applied accidentally, bathe immediately with washing-up liquid and go to an emergency vet.

Recognise the signs
- PERMETHRIN TOXICITY EMERGENCY SIGNS (develop rapidly after exposure):
- Muscle tremors — often starting in the face and ears, progressing to the whole body
- Seizures
- Hyperthermia — abnormally high body temperature
- Extreme agitation and distress
- Hypersalivation
- Dilated pupils
- Incoordination and ataxia
- Collapse and death if untreated
- NORMAL AFTER CORRECT TREATMENT: slight greasy appearance at the application site; occasional mild skin irritation at the spot-on site
